Autoblogging is about setting up software to get content from many sources based on criteria. The biggest disadvantage of autoblogging software is that, of course, does not think like a human being and therefore it sometimes gets content which is not so useful, not so relevant etc. and the generated content is not what we really want, though this can be cured a little by tweaking the software properly.
Most of the people who build autoblogs, do it because they do not want to spend their time with writing long articles, just set a system up that works alone.
But there is a method called content curation that is not autoblogging, but not blogging either. By using this technique you do not have to write articles, but you have to choose manually the content you want to use on the certain blog post. The content can be anything articles, Tweets, videos, images etc., the aim is to collect and add relevant useful sources at one place with your own thoughts.
So what is content curation?
Content Curation is the act of discovering, gathering, and presenting the best possible content that surrounds a specific subject matter and posting it on your site along with your opinions.

As you can see, the difference between content curation and autoblogging is that, curating content is about collecting the best relevant, existing content manually with our opinions in order to help the searchers to find all the necessary info at one place without the need of searching more. Therefore, search engines also like these sort of sites since they give what the searchers want.
There are many sites just like Mashable, Digg and even all the bookmarking sites that use this method, and they are very popular, having millions of visitors monthly.
How to Do Content Curation Properly
This technique is not about cutting and paste everything. It must really be a collection of the best sources. You should always link back to the original posts and you should posts the text in quotes. Of course, quoting a whole text is also not ethical, just use the most important and useful parts.
Another thing that is usually forgotten is to add own thoughts, opinions. The reader must understand why the chosen source is so useful for him.
Many beginner curators think this is an easy technique, so they cut and paste everything creating tons of posts day by day. When you curate content you should always keep in mind that quality must be always over quantity
