If you take the time to set up your autoblog, the next step is to get website traffic. The best free way to get website traffic to your autoblog is the search engine optimization (SEO). It is a well-known fact that SEO is a must for a website, and that is the same with autoblogs or may be it is more important.

Here I would like to give you some tips how to optimize your autoblog.

If you use a WordPress autoblog plugin you should add the keywords, you want the software to generate posts for. It is very important to use keywords which have low competition, have enough searches and can be monetized, last but not least all the chosen keywords must be relevant to each other.

In my point of view, long tail keywords are the best solution for autoblogs since most of these keywords have got much lower competition, therefor you will have better chance to rank in search engines for that keywords.

To find the optimal keywords for your autoblog you can use some type of keyword research software or you can use the free Google keyword research tool.

A typical WordPress autoblog plugin creates posts based on the added keywords, so there is a great possibility that the certain keyword will be in the URL which is really important for SEO. You can set WordPress to insert the keywords into the URL by setting up the permalinks promptly. I suggest you to set your permalinks to /%category%/%postname%/ or /%postname%/.

Moreover, install a slug optimizer plugin which removes the unnecessary words from the URLs just like a, an, and etc. which my be harmful for SEO.

This is mostly for the images used in the posts. A good WordPress autoblog plugin supports generating posts with images and also supports to add the keyword as the ALT tag for the image. This way you images will be optimized within your autoblog. By the way, I suggest you to set your atuoblog plugin to use related images in the generated posts, this also helps to make the content more unique.

It is also a good way to get better SEO to use the technique of internal linking which can be done easily by installing a plugin called SEO Auto Linker or another one called SEO Smart Links. You set the keyword and add the link you want to add for it and the plugin automatically create the links all over you autoblog which can point to internal or external sites.
